Harry Nilsson - The Missing Years
Harry Nilsson is probably my most favorite artist that my fiancee despises. She even just saw me writing this and said I should leave it in.
My colleagues in the music biz try to convince us his career was over after the 1974 disasterpiece Pussy Cats (produced by John Lennon). Most compilations end there, and the five full albums he made between 1975-1980 are hard to find on CD. And don't forget the songs he wrote for the Popeye musical.
After years of curiosity, I've finally sampled some tracks from Nilsson's "Missing Years" thanks to Jefitoblog's Complete Idiot's Guide to Harry Nilsson. The full albums may not stack up to his early masterworks, but there definitely are 20 good tracks to fill an interesting compilation.
I added his links to songs from those records to my Cahncast podcast feed and webjay playlist. The webjay list works best with Windows Media.
Here now are direct links to mp3's (Jefitoblog +, Bedazzled ^, and Spoilt Victorian Child #) and a few tracks from that era in a Rhapsody playlist *
